JOB DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, will work independently in performing voice and data communications activities and functions, including: site surveys and plans, recommending design, procurement, deployment and installation of systems, as well as maintaining on-line networks in support of telecommunications systems and projects. May be assigned to work on complex tasks, and must meet project budget, schedule and performance requirements. A member of the Voice Communications support group will be responsible for completing assigned tasks and meeting organization goals and objectives. May regularly interact with senior management to provide progress updates on work performed with Local Area Networks, Paging Systems, Intercom Systems, Security/Intercom Systems, IP Access Control Systems, and Telephone Systems. will provide engineering planning and management support for the USCIS voice and data communications networks; develop and/or validate designs; determine optimal services; troubleshoot performance problems; determine appropriate circuit types and capacities; support the migration to a MPLS network; interface the USCIS networks with other DHS Agencies; and identify/correct hardware, software and circuit issues.

Will assist in technical reviews of subcontractor work performed. Will conduct pre-project surveys to gather or confirm site requirements. Will conduct quality assurance surveys of completed jobs, and review documentation submitted by vendors/ subcontractors to ensure compliance with requirements. Will perform technical editing of and/or prepares & maintains systems documentation, including the creation, publishing, and updating of comprehensive network design drawings using the Visio tool.

EDUCATION/REQUIRED SKILLS: Bachelors degree and 7+ years of experience in Telecommunications and/or data networking. Ten or more related years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Various certifications preferred are with Avaya, Cisco, or legacy Nortel Networks. Installation/support experience and overall knowledge with Cisco VoIP and/or Avaya VoIP. Must be a US Citizen to obtain DHS Security Clearance.
